What is TestNG?
TestNG stands for “Testing Next Generation“. It is an automation testing framework used for the java programming language.
TestNG is mostly used along with Selenium Page Object Model, and is similar to that of Junit and Nunit framework.
The advantage of using the TestNG framework is that it provides the capability of
- Generating reports with a number of test cases passed, failed, and skipped.
- Grouping Testcases together in xml and then adding condition like priority, include, exclude, invocation conditions.
- Provides Annotation which is very useful in building scripts.
- Achieves parallel execution for cross browser testing.
- Flexible runtime configuration.
- Flexible plug-in API.
- Support for multi threaded testing.
Below is a simple java class file named TestNGSimpleTest with TestNG implemented
import org.testng.annotations.Test; import static org.testng.Assert.assertEquals; public class TestNGSimpleTest { @Test public void testAdd() { String str = "TestNG is implemented"; AssertEquals("TestNG is successfully implemented", str); } }
